Web, social and personal data. Are we under surveillance?
Every day we leave digital traces on the web: the sites we visit, the words we search for, the likes we place are collected by digital service providers, along with the data our devices leave behind and the information about us that others publish. This information is used to provide us with increasingly personalised and high-performance services, and enables some web giants to make billions. This webinar offers an opportunity to raise awareness of how our digital data is mined, collected and used online, and the consequences this has for us. Not forgetting to explore some possible alternatives.
The webinar is part of the Making a Privacy-Aware World (MAPAW) project, funded by the Agora Programme of the Swiss National Science Foundation. It is the result of a collaboration between the Laboratory of Technology and Media in Education of the Department of Formation and Learning and the Research Group in Complex Systems and Pervasive Networking of the Institute for Information Systems and Networking of the Department of Innovative Technologies of SUPSI, with the contribution of the Competence Centre in Digital Law of USI.
